I think Spring is my favorite season.

It has taken a while to get here this year in Los Angeles. We had more rain than I have ever seen… except for one year way back in ’98. When I saw other blogs and twitterfeeds abuzz with the glimpses of spring, we were still braving cold weather and downpours. In fact, on the first day of spring it rained her from six o’clock in the morning until well past midnight.

But, now, as I look out my window, I can tell you that spring has sprung!
Wonderful produce is popping up at the Farmer’s Market. Yesterday, I got first harvest zucchini. And, while I haven’t yet prepared it, I was told by the farmer that it was sweet and delicious. I’m looking forward to making a light pasta with vegan ricotta and some lightly sauteed zucchini.
I also got some spring English peas. And, fresh onion with the green stalk still attached.
But most importantly, I have filled my house with flowers! Lovely roses and lilacs that bring color and fragrance into the home. They make me so happy.
They also have a tendency to make me daydream. This is the perfect song to accompany any good daydream
I love this vase. It is actually a set of two which makes for a lovely table setting. Often, only one comes out to be filled with a bouquet of some unstructured arrangement. I love the black glass and the way flowers look in contrast. I also love how structured the vase is and how complementary it is to put total disarray inside.
